Santa Barbara Reads Presents Frankenstein, September 28th, 2018 – November 1st, 2018
Celebrate the bicentennial anniversary of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein with the Santa Barbara Public Library! Along with a multitude of concerts, lectures, performances, and community activities, throughout the entire month of October, local bars will pay homage to the immortal horror story with their own take on terribly tasty cocktails.

OCTOBER 19
Spooktacular Hallow – STEAM Evening, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Families with children of all ages will delight in this hands-on spooktacular science exploration at The Knox School of Santa Barbara. The brave will get to meet a wolf up-close, miniature horses and owls from Eyes in The Sky, while the goofy can explore the Slime Lab and use vacuums chambers to grow and shrink marshmallows. It will be a night of interactive fun with numerous stations from Santa Barbara Hackerspace, Santa Barbara Zoo, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, and Art from Scrap.
Cost: $5 per person, children under 3 are free
Boo at the Zoo, October 19, 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., October 20, 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., October 21, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m
The Santa Barbara Zoo transforms for three nights of safe, traffic-free trick-or-treating for monster-ous thrills and chills including a Trick or Treat Trail, Boo-Choo-Choo train rides, Creepy Crawly encounters, Spooky Storytelling, Goblin Games, and more. Boo at the Zoo is one of the most popular family Halloween festival in the tri-counties area.
Member Costs: $17 Adults, $12 Children (2-12)
Non-Member Costs: $20 Adults, $14 Children (2-12)
Haunt at the Showgrounds 2018, October 19 – October 20, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Experience two nights of heart-pounding haunted house style fun at Earl Warren Showgrounds. Consisting of three separate, frightful haunts, The Tunnel of Terror, The Barn, and Hall of Darkness, bring your friends to increase your chances of making it out of the Haunted Showgrounds.
Cost: $8 General Admission or $20 for a Haunt Pack that includes access to all three Haunts
Afterparty At MOXI, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Tickets for this adult-only after party sell out quickly, so if you don’t already have a ticket, you’d better act fast! Once a quarter, MOXI opens its doors for an 21+ event, this time to the theme of Halloween Celebration. Come dressed in your best and spookiest threads to compete in MOXI’s first ever contest, the Transformation Tournament, for a chance to win free drinks and event tickets. No costume? No problem. Morph your appearance with a free DIY mask making and face/body painting. End the night with a dance party on one of Santa Barbara’ favorite rooftops to live music by Thumpasaurus.

OCTOBER 25
Halloween Embroidery Class, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Drink wine and make something spooky at Municipal Winemakers. All skill levels are welcome at this super beginner Halloween embroidery class.
OCTOBER 26
Monsters and Bloodsuckers Film Classics, October 26 – October 31, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.
As the night falls and dusk appears, guests of Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort should prepare for a night of spine-tingling terror during the screenings of horror film classics: Dracula, The Mummy and The Phantom of the Opera. To accompany the frightful feature, Hilton’s culinary team will create a ghoulish menu featuring delicious dishes starting at $14.
Cost: FREE for resort guests and loved ones. Santa Barbara residents can sign up for the Loved Locals program and receive 20 percent off food and resort services.
El Dia De Los Muertos at Four Seasons, 7 p.m. – 12 a.m.
Ty Lounge at Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara will play host to spirits and guests alike for a haunting evening of cocktail tasting, dancing and a competitive costume contest. No basic witches here. The dimly lit ocean-front terrace will boast fireside cocktails while indoors, dance the night away as a DJ spins today’s hits that will keep the dance floor boo-gieing all night long.

Halloween (The Original Movie) Showing at the Riviera Theatre, 9:45 p.m.
Join the Santa Barbara International Film Festival for a screening of the original Halloween. Step into the splendor of the Riviera Theatre for an evening of cinematic horror.
Cost: $10 General Admission, $8 Seniors/Students with ID
Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Chumash Casino, 8:00 p.m.
This is one event that will have you shivering with antici-pation. Celebrate 40 years of The Rocky Horror Picture show with Barry Bostwick. The night will start with a screening of the film, complete with all the best creatures of the night along with a live shadow cast. After the film, audiences will be treated to the best, behind-the-scenes stories of Barry Bostwick’s life and career. Note: Think again about bringing the kids to this event. Production contains adult material and language.

OCTOBER 27
Tales & Scales, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
It’s time for family Halloween fun at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center. Creep and slither around in your Halloween costume while participating in thrilling and chilling activities. Gasp for breath as you watch Sea Center divers uncover the shadowy underwater world beneath Stearns Wharf. Sit on the edge of your seat and observe mysteries of the deep during live video feeds from the Exploration Vessel Nautilus. And get ready to squeal with delight as you touch a Moon Jelly, if you dare. This is one fun-filled event. Be sure to check the event description for a complete timeline of activities. Halloween costumes are encouraged.

Halloween Cupcake and Wine Pairing, 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
This devilishly delicious Halloween tradition returns again as DV8 Cellars partners with Alison Riede of Sugar Cat Studios to upgrade your next wine tasting flight with a trio of holiday-themed cupcakes. Spend your afternoon in Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone, sipping wine and indulging in these tasty sugar treats. For those willing to dress up, awards will be given out for the best costumes.
Cost: Cost of wine pairing + $6 per trio
7th Annual Voodoo Lounge Halloween Dance Party, 9 p.m. – 1 a.m.
This wickedly fun dance party is a yearly Halloween tradition, benefiting the Family Services Agency. Held at Viva Modern Mexican, this event will be filled to the brim with entertainment including DJ Scott Topper, a haunted action photo booth, costume contests, and the Voodoo Altar. With spirited drink specials and a full bar, this 21+ event will be a haunting evening to remember!

Thrill the World 2018, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Hundreds of zombies will come to life and head to the Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Gardens to perform dance moves of the walking dead to Michael Jackson’s iconic Thriller. No need to be a trained dancer, all are invited to participate in this world-wide flash mob event, now in its 8th year. Can’t make it to the Santa Barbara event? Don’t miss Thriller in Santa Ynez on Sunday, October 28!

OCTOBER 28
El Dia De Los Muertos at Casa De La Guerra, 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Celebrate Día de los Muertos, “Day of the Dead,” with a free family craft day and exhibit at Casa de la Guerra in downtown Santa Barbara. Discover the fascinating history of this special holiday while decorating sugar skulls and creating block prints, tin art, and more. Traditional food such as pan de muerto (bread of the dead) and Mexican hot chocolate will be served.

OCTOBER 29
Three Nights of Murder Mystery Dinners, October 29-31, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Spend Halloween weekend indulging in a savory, four-course meal under the stars at Brass Bear Brewing. While you dine, you’ll be transported to the 1920’s and play the role of themed characters. Don’t get too relaxed, there’s a murderer on the loose that you much catch before the night is through.

OCTOBER 30
Solvang Haunted House, October 30-31, 6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m
Welcome to CARNEVIL, every small town’s worst nightmare. Now in its 25th year, this traveling festival returns to the Solvang Festival Theatre. This is one traveling fair that comes to town but never leaves. Beware as the clowns and carnies take over. For a more kid friendly version, visit from 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

OCTOBER 31
Downtown Trick-or-Treat, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Grab your favorite Halloween gear and meet for Trick-or-Treating in Downtown Santa Barbara. Walk from shop-to-shop as participating businesses display balloons and distribute candy to children in costume.

Carr Winery Presents Halloween Night, 7: 30 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Come to the haunted wine caves at Carr Winery for a bone-chilling night of delicious wine, live entertainment by Key Party, and a costume contest. This event is for those 21+ and costumes are required. No pets, please.
Cost: $25 in advance, $35 at the door
