Carpinteria Named One of the Most Charming Small Towns!

Carpinteria Named One of the Most Charming Small Towns!

There’s something about a small town that feels quite magical. From the quaint shops and the local markets to the traditional annual events and parades, a small town has that special something that makes you want to linger for a while. We are lucky to have many of those places right here in Southern California. Take a look at a few of my favorites.

10. Big Bear Lake

Big Bear Lake is the perfect all-season getaway in the San Bernardino Mountains. Who can resist a small town with snow on the rooftops in the wintertime? Not me!

9. Ventura

Otherwise known as San Buenaventura, this charming town is a popular surfing destination that is always tops on everyone’s list.

8. San Clemente

Trains along the shore...not something you see very often. But here in this small town, it adds a touch of charm.

7. Seal Beach

Feel the sand in your toes at this small-town beach community in Orange County with a 1.5-mile stretch of beach that’s perfect for a leisurely stroll.

6. Carpinteria

You can expect to see a street parade or two at this quaint coastal community that might just remind you of a SoCal version of Mayberry.

5. Redlands

The annual Redlands Firefighter’s Car Show held in downtown Redlands keeps the small-town charm alive. The 20th anniversary for this event is coming up on May 29, 2016.

4. Green Valley Lake

You know you’re in a small town when you bump into this darling General Store. With a population of 300 full-time residents, this town is the smallest of the small towns on the list.

3. Wrightwood

Wrightwood is the only small town on this list without a traffic light. It’s the kind of place you go to get away from it all. A destination for skiing in the winter and a scenic spot for hiking in the summer.

2. Oak Glen

A perfect destination where you can visit charming local farms and pick fresh apples at one of the many orchards you will find here.

1. Claremont

Strolling through Claremont Village will make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
